Ahead of Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semifinals matchup between the 76ers and the Toronto Raptors, reports suggested that head coach Brett Brown could lose his job with a Philadelphia loss.

Of course, the Sixers did lose Game 7, falling in heartbreaking fashion as Kawhi Leonard hit one of the craziest series-clinching buzzer beaters in the history of the NBA.

Brown will not be losing his job, though.

ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the Sixers have decided to bring Brown back for the 2019-20 season.

“Brett Brown will return as the Philadelphia 76ers coach next season, managing partner Josh Harris told ESPN on Monday night,” he reports.

Brown has faced some criticism as the Sixers’ head coach – mostly surrounding the use of Ben Simmons on the offensive end of the floor – but he’s led the team to back-to-back conference semis appearances. He clearly has the respect of his players, too.

Allen Iverson Maillot,Joel Embiid strongly defended his head coach following Game 7.

“At the end of the day, it comes down to the players. I don’t think he should have anything to worry about. He’s an amazing coach, a better person. … If there was someone to blame, I mean, put it all on me,” said Embiid regarding the idea that Brown could lose his job.

While a decision has now been made on Brown, there are plenty more to come for the Sixers this offseason, as Jimmy Butler, Tobias Harris and J.J. Redick are all set to hit free agency.
